About GigFinance Tools

Free, private, plain-language financial calculators for America's gig workers and self-employed.

Why this site exists

Over 60 million Americans now earn at least part of their income as independent contractors — driving for rideshare and delivery apps, freelancing, creating content, doing contract work. The tax system wasn't designed with them in mind: no employer withholds taxes, quarterly payments come as a surprise, and "write-offs" like the mileage deduction go unclaimed because nobody explains them simply.

GigFinance Tools exists to close that gap. Each calculator answers one concrete question a 1099 worker actually asks — "how much will I owe?", "when do I pay?", "what are my miles worth?" — and each one ships with a short guide written in plain language, not tax jargon.

How we stay free

This site is supported by advertising. That's the whole business model: the calculators are free, unlimited, and require no account, and there is no "pro" tier hiding your results. Keeping the tools client-side (everything runs in your browser) also keeps our costs low, which keeps the site free.

What we're not

We are not tax advisors, accountants, or lawyers. Every number on this site is an estimate based on publicly published IRS figures. Tax situations vary enormously — for anything that affects real money, please consult a qualified tax professional or CPA. See our Terms of Service for the full picture.

Privacy, briefly

We don't have user accounts and we don't want your data. Calculations run entirely in your browser; nothing you type into a calculator is sent to us. Read the full Privacy Policy for details.
